Gamma Sigma 83rd Anniversary Reunion Weekend Recap

04/15/2019

The Gamma Sigma Chapter hosted its 83rd Anniversary Reunion Weekend in Montgomery this past weekend, April 12th-14th.

The chapter kicked it off with a Hospitality for all brothers arriving into town for the weekend's festivities. Brothers who have relocated from Montgomery to cities far and wide all flocked to The Patio on Spruce Street, welcoming each other with open arms.

Following the Hospitality on Spruce Street, the Alumni of the Gamma Sigma Chapter hosted the Gamma Sigma Chapter 83rd Anniversary Reunion Banquet at MyPlace Uptown. ΓΣ Spring '09 (6 Duties of Greatness) was recognized for 10 years of service in our beloved fraternity and Bro. Mark Stevens gifted all ΓΣ brothers with 10+ years matching cardigans. Bro. Howard "Cupcake" Cooper (ΓΣ '78) presided over the "Fallen Soldiers" segment of the program, directing brothers to grant a moment of silence to ΓΣ's lone fallen soldier, Bro. Leon Williams (ΓΣ '46).

The Annual Black & Gold Game was held on Saturday and brothers were there to support Bro. Ricky Haley Jr. (ΓΣ '17)(#44 DE) as well as spearhead a tailgate for our ASU Family & Community. Brothers of the Gamma Sigma Chapter served 200+ pounds of grilled chicken. Following the Spring Game and tailgate, brothers proceeded to the Omega stone to take the annual official chapter photographs as well as congregate. Following the photographs, brothers attended a day party held on Spruce Street.

The weekend winded down with a chapter brunch/meeting in the Cafe on campus. It was an overall great weekend of fellowship for the Alumni and active members of the Gamma Sigma Chapter.

Major RΩΩ to the 2018-2019 Reunion Planning Committee (Bro. Howard Cooper '78, Bro. Bennie Cooks '90, Bro. Vladimir Averett '92, Bro. Andre Deramus '09 and Bro. Joffre Lester III '09) on putting together a weekend that the bruhz will definitely remember.

Thanks again bruhz for a great weekend of fellowship! Nobody does it quite like Gamma Sig. I hope everyone made it back safely to their destinations.
